Young Souls is a co-op-focused beat ’em up that follows the story of protagonists Jenn and Tristan. These two are challenged with the task of diving into another world full of battles and dungeons. In between fights they retreat back to their humble town to rest and prepare.

As with any good RPG, equipment is essential in Young Souls. Dungeons provide various weapons and combat gear that provide all kinds of useful bonuses. Each piece of gear is visually distinctive, giving players the choice to progress their character how they want. Furthermore, most equipment can be upgraded at the goblin market for the right price.

This release date announcement follows five years of development work on Young Souls. It previously launched as a Stadia exclusive in August 2021, but it will soon find its way onto more popular platforms.

Under the radar

Despite being generally well-reviewed, Young Souls fell under the radar last year. This is probably because the Google Stadia simply isn’t that popular a platform, making it difficult to gain traction. Regardless, it looks to be a fun title in a genre that needs some love.

In the ’80s and ’90s beat ’em ups were everywhere, with games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage 2 leading the line. However, the genre has fallen out of favor even with some excellent titles released in the 21st century, such as Castle Crashers, Streets of Rage 4, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Hopefully, Young Souls can build on the genre’s resurgence and give fans another great option to play.
