WRC 3, the official game of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship, will be powered by a brand new graphics engine. Dubbed ‘Spikengine’, this new, in-house platform should enable developer Milestone to add improved lighting and particle effects to the series.
Every rally from the 2012 Championship is set to be included in WRC 3, along with all leading WRC teams (more than 50 in total) and drivers. A “revamped” career mode is promised, plus a “streamlined” approach to gameplay that should give newer players a chance to get into the title. If you’re worried that this might make things dangerously accessible, don’t worry, because Milestone is also stating that the game will still cater to “experienced rally gamers”.
You can see some landscape-heavy ‘work in progress’ images from the Spikengine, below.
WRC 3 is coming to PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Vita in October.
