To coincide with World of Warcraft’s Patch 3.1, Blizzard has released a new cinematic trailer, showing players what to expect in the new Ulduar raid and updating them on the stroyline.
Anyone who has played Wrath of the Lich King will recognise the characters in this latest movie from Blizzard. Prospector Brann Bronzebeard, Thrall, Jaina Proudmore, Varian Wrynn and Rhonin all make an appearance, along with several bosses from the new raid, Ulduar. The last movie from Blizzard, the Wrathgate cinematic, was a huge hit with players and Blizzard has used same methods to make this latest offering, taking game models and animating them instead of using in-game actions.
The film shows off a lot of the inside of Ulduar, some of the bosses in action, and progresses the story; Prospector Brann Bronzebeard flees Ulduar to alert Rhonin at the Violet Citadel in Dalaran that the Explorer’s League expedition’s raid on Ulduar failed, and that Yogg-Saron has escaped. There Jaina Proudmoore and King Varian arrive to meet with Rhonin for a possible support of Alliance forces to attack Ulduar. Thrall and Garrosh arrive in Dalaran for a meeting with Rhonin too – and a battle between Varian and Garrosh ensues. Hatred is in the air for what happened at the Wrathgate, something that won’t be easily forgiven. The trailer ends with Rhonin and Jaina wondering who will take up arms against Yogg-Saron…
Players can see this new content in-game in Patch 3.1, which is currently being updated to game servers after confirmation of its arrival earlier. Blizzard has said that it intends to release a short movie with each chapter of Lich King.
