In an interview with IncGamers earlier today, Blizzard co-founder commented that it seems unlikely that WoW mods will be available via the new Battle.Net 2.0 Marketplace. Blizzard outlined their plans for the Battle.Net 2.0 Marketplace yesterday and revealed that premium user created StarCraft 2 maps would be available for sale on the Marketplace when it rolls out. With BattleNet 2.0 consolidating all Blizzard games there was no confirmation as to whether the World of Warcraft modding community would also have the same feature.In a video interview with IncGamers, Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce has confirmed that it is unlikely the World of Warcraft modding community will have the ability to upload and sell mods on the new Battle.Net 2.0 Marketplace system.”It’s definitely something we discussed, although because the WoW mod community has been around for so long, I think it would be challenging because I think others probably a lot of mod makers out there that are maintaining mods that they were not the original author for so there’s legal challenges to deal with.
