WoW Dragonflight All Tanks, Ranked

Tanking Away.

Tanking is perhaps the most vital position for Raids or Dungeons in World of Warcraft, and the meta has been shaken up quite a bit.

All Tanks in WoW: Dragonflight 10.2 Ranked

Tanking has gotten some major updates in recent patches, with the revamped Demon Hunter changes coming in 10.2 and the previously updated Protection Paladin.

Going into the brand-new raid, Amirdrassil: The Dream’s Hope, there will be a significant emphasis on the two tanks people bring into the raid, and there there are some that are better than others.

Here’s where we think the current meta is for tanks in WoW: Dragonflight. These are subject to change.

6. Guardian Druid

With the 10.2 patch, Blizzard has essentially buffed every tank to the point where none are terrible. But some are still better than others.

This is where Guardian Druid players will feel left out, as while the class was at its peak during the Summer, with the addition of the Augmentation Evoker, the class is now on the outside looking in. They’re still above average compared to patches in the past, but the new tier set isn’t up to par with what we’ve seen in the past, and other tanks are better.

5. Protection Warrior

The iconic Warrior class is excellent in specific scenarios, but overall it’s not on par with other tanks.

Prot Warriors have gotten a huge upgrade to their damage output, and they bring one of the more versatile raid utilities in the form of Battle Shout.

4. Brewmaster Monk

Classes Monk Brewmaster

Monks were perhaps the best tank for Aberrus, The Shadowed Crucible, as we saw compositions that revolved around this tank, especially during the Race to World First for teams like Team Liquid and Echo.

Now, while Brewmaster Monk isn’t the cream of the crop, they’re still going to out-damage a large portion of your DPS, alongside the notion that they’re one of the more formidable tank options for guilds to go with. Their Stagger ability is crucial for hard-hitting raid bosses. Since we’ve seen it pay off before, we suspect it’ll continue to be the case.

3. Blood Death Knight

This ranking for Blood DKs is strictly going to depend on how powerful the new Legendary item, Fyr’alath the Dream Render, is going to be for their overall kit. Regardless, people know how effective Blood DKs are within fights, as they essentially heal themselves thanks to Death Strike.

Another strong impact of Blood DK is its utility. The class brings some of the most potent raid-wide utility in the game thanks to Anti-Magic Zone and the always-useful Death Grips.

2. Protection Paladin

Almost nearing the top of our list is the Protection Paladin class, and they’ve received some noteworthy changes heading into 10.2.

While Blood DKs bring their excellent utility, Protection Paladins bring their own in the form of their Aura’s, alongside the Divine Shield immunity they can use as a get-out-of-jail-free card. We also suspect that Prot Paladins will be exceptional on the damage meters, much like other tanks on this list.

1. Vengeance Demon Hunter

Rounding off our list is the newly reworked Vengeance Demon Hunter spec, and it may be a little over the top for us to assume they’re going to be the best tank for 10.2. However, it’s hard to ignore the substantial changes coming this class’s way in the new patch.

Changes to their overall talent tree will drastically improve the play style of this class, and open up more utility in the form of Darkness, and Chaos Brand. So, it’s an assumption for the time being, but would not be surprising to see Vengeance spring to the top of the list.
