This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Today at Blizzcon 2013, Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, the latest expansion pack for the world’s biggest MMO. This pack aims to let players explore an important point in Warcraft history, with characters and settings that will be familiar to fans of the original games. Warlords of Draenor will send players to the jungles and plains of the titular Draenor as it was before it became known as Outland. Blizzard says that while you might recognize some of the names, the areas have been built from the ground up for this expansion. artwork-1-full

Delivering on Bobby Kotick’s promise of “exciting new content”, Champions of the Horde and Alliance will be able to build and customize their Garrison, acting as their own personal base and eventually filling with recruited NPC allies. For many of the game’s existing playable races, Warlords of Draenor also features completely revamped models and animations, bringing them up to the standard of the newer races. The expansion also includes a new level cap of 100, improvements to questing, and brand new Zones, Dungeons, Raids, Scenarios, and Battlegrounds.

Says Mike Morhaim, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, “Warlords of Draenor gives players a chance to take a commanding role in one of the Warcraft series’ most crucial conflicts.” With an option that lets anyone instantly boost one character to level 90, the expansion is designed for longtime players as well as newcomers. “This expansion also includes features that make it easy for anyone to jump right into the action, whether they’ve played WoW at some point in the past or are just setting foot in Azeroth for the first time.”

If you’re lucky enough to be attending Blizzcon 2013, you can play Warlords of Draenor on the show floor, and those with Blizzcon Virtual Tickets can learn more by watching panels online during the event. Warlords of Draenor is the game’s fifth expansion, coming after 2012’s well-recieved Mists of Pandoria.
