Wolfenstein: The New Order

For this much raw stabbing power you need the mightiest of processors.

It’s time once again to ponder whether a forthcoming game really needs an i7 processor in order to run properly. Wolfenstein: The New Order is the latest title to say “no, look, I really do need all that processing power, even though I’m coming out on the 360 and Ps3 too.” That’s according to Bethesda’s own “recommended” PC specs anyway.

In fairness, they say this is what you’ll need for “a next-gen experience running at 60fps,” but I’m pretty sure a few processors below the caliber of the i7 will be capable of managing that as well. Especially since the RAM and GPU recommendations aren’t all that taxing.

Those specs, then, are as follows:

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD
4 GB System RAM
50 GB free HDD space
GeForce 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
High Speed Internet Connection
Steam account and activation required
