CD Projekt Red has done a formidable job of reviving a dead game with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty expansion. They have both come out to really rather impressive reviews on the whole and turned what was a failure into a remarkable save. However, the release of Phantom Liberty begs the question as to whether this is a one-and-done for Cyberpunk 2077 or if there will be further DLC after the success of the first.
Will there be more Cyberpunk 2077 DLC?
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that, no, this is the only DLC that will be released for Cyberpunk 2077. They have made a valiant effort to drag the game from the grave and, in most people’s opinion, succeeded. They can take a bow, and a step back from the stage, possibly to work on a new IP. Personally, I would love to see something in the same vein as Witcher coming out.
The news of no new DLC coming out for Cyberpunk 2077 may be disappointing to some, but in reality, the game took far longer than the studio ever intended to finish and then fix. It is long overdue for them to move on and leave the mistake behind them. This has no doubt been a huge learning curve for CD Projekt Red. One they won’t forget in a hurry.
The studio is capable of producing fantastic games with deep and sweeping narratives. With the Witcher series, they explored a fantasy world with enormous depth and some wonderful mechanics that had players coming back for years. The game was remastered and re-released plenty of times, earning a platinum status.
It is very noble of CD Projekt Red to stick with their game. They kept their dignity even through all the scathing reviews and horrible releases. They didn’t give up hope. I think the game they now have is much closer to the original vision they had. The one and only DLC they released is the final curtain call of Cyberpunk 2077.
