It wouldn’t be a modern game launch without some fun little issues for players to deal with in the mix, and Season 2 of Diablo 4 is no exception. Following a substantial release delay, and a bug involving the Summons of the Deathless seasonal quest, things have stabilized a bit, but a few lingering problems remain. One of these is the inability for players to make use of the game’s crossplay feature across the PC and Console versions of the game. Why isn’t crossplay working in Diablo 4 Season 2? Read on to find out.
Why can’t I play crossplay with my friends in Diablo 4 Season 2?
The question of why Diablo 4’s crossplay feature isn’t working is currently trending in Google searches and on platforms like Reddit, but the answer is actually very simple. In the game’s page on the Battle.net client, a message from Blizzard is currently visible, which reads as follows:
“Season of Blood is live, however due to a technical issue cross play between PC and Consoles is temporarily unavailable. We are working to resolve this and will provide updates as they are available.”
From this message, the cause of the crossplay issue is clear: it’s down to a lingering technical issue following the difficult launch of Season of Blood. Given the lack of additional details it’s impossible to discern the nature of said issue, but Blizzard was able to deal with the rough launch issues fairly quickly, which may indicate that this problem will be solved similarly quickly also.
So now you know why crossplay isn’t working in Diablo 4 Season 2. It’s a frustrating issue, particularly for those who were planning to tackle the new seasonal content with friends on different platforms, but it should be resolved soon. Keep an eye on the Battle.net client, and Blizzard’s posts on other platforms, for more information.
