Great game. Annoying problem.

The Finals has been hit with a few technical issues like Error Code tfla002, so you should expect things to pop up during play. An issue I ran into a few times was that it would crash mid-game. Turns out, this is an issue plaguing other players. I may have found out why it’s crashing and how to fix it. To find out why The Finals is crashing mid-game, follow along below.

The Finals: Why is the game crashing in the middle of a match?

There are a ton of reasons why the game stops working during a match, so it can be hard to pinpoint your exact reason. You could be playing during peak times or the game itself is acting up, so it could be a myriad of factors. When the game has crashed for me, I simply restart it and it works. On the other hand, this step may not work for you. So read on to find out how to stop The Finals from cashing during a game.

How to fix crashing mid-game

Thankfully, there are a few steps you can take and they’re rather easy to do. So let’s get to it.

  • Restarting the game or platform: This is most of the time that fixes the issue altogether because you’re giving The Finals a fresh start. As you do this other errors may go away as well. So try this step first before going on.
  • Update the drivers: I’ve noticed many games including The Finals act odd when I’m playing with outdated drivers. This means the game is struggling to be compatible with your PC. By updating your rig, you can ensure the game runs smoother and that Embark Studios wants it to run.
  • Check out your settings: The Finals isn’t graphically demanding, but it does make your system work hard with all the destruction and shooting that’s going on. You can lower your settings or use these recommendations to make your PC work less. When there’s less of a burden on the computer, the game can smoothly operate.
  • Check the integrity of the game: You can only do this on Steam. By checking the quality of the files, you can clean and fix corrupted ones, so it helps. To verify files for The Finals, head to your library in Steam, and right-click the game. In the drop-down menu press Properties. This will open up a new window, when that happens look for Installed Files in the left side bar. Within this menu, navigate downwards and press Verify integrity of game files. Press that and wait for Steam to check the files. Once that’s completed, head back into the game and it should work now.
