The ongoing Assassin’s Creed franchise continuously brings along new adventures, locations, and characters. Sometimes there’s one main character, and other times there are two. In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, there’s just one character, but you may recognize them if you’ve played a previous title. If you’re wondering who the main character is in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we’ve answered this question below.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Who is the main character?
Unlike most games that create new main characters, this one is a familiar face. The main character in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character you may recognize from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. On the game’s website, it says that Basim was born in 835 in Samarra, lost his mother at a young age, and grew up on the streets of Baghdad alone. He dreams of joining the Hidden Ones, who are a group of Assassins before the Brotherhood came to be.
But who really is Basim if he was also in the previous Assassin’s Creed installment? Well, if you really want to know, or want a refresher from the last game, spoilers ahead. I’ve warned you, don’t keep reading if you’re planning to play Valhalla.
Okay, so in Valhalla, we find out that Basim was the human reincarnation of the god Loki. Throughout the game, Basim realizes who he really is, and faces off against Eivor, Valhalla’s protagonist. It ended with Basim getting trapped inside The Grey, which is a strange digital afterlife.
So who is he in Mirage? This game takes places before Valhalla, at the start of his life before he knew he was Loki. You’ll learn from the ground-up how he became an assassin for the Hidden Ones. There are a lot of gaps in Basim’s story left from Valhalla, so it seems like Mirage will fill them. You don’t need to play Valhalla to enjoy Mirage, but at least it’s nice to know more about this main character.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
