Up top, know that this article is aimed at helping you find the in-game Buster Sword R2R5, not the Mythic universal heirloom Buster Sword. While the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 crossover event is live, you’ll be able to play the Battle Royale Takeover LTM, which is the only place you’ll have a chance at wielding the Buster Sword R2R5.

The Buster Sword R2R5 is found just like every other item — in bins and on the ground. It comes down to RNG if you find the Buster Sword R2R5, but you can increase your chances of finding one by dropping into a Hot Zone, areas with higher loot values that rotate every game and usually attract a lot of players. There’s more risk, but you could find your reward.

Commonly, you’ll find a Buster Sword R2R5 in a Care Package, so keep your eyes peeled for those during the game. The last way to get a Buster Sword R2R5 is to take it from a fallen enemy. Defeat them and loot the sword from their death box.

While the Buster Sword universal heirloom is strictly cosmetic, the Buster Sword R2R5 has gameplay capabilities. With it equipped, you can deal light and heavy attacks, block to reduce incoming damage, and dash toward enemies. The more damage you deal, take, and block, the faster your meter fills. Once the meter is filled, you can deploy the Limit Break, which launches your target into the air as you deal devastating damage.

Hopefully, you can enjoy using the Buster Sword R2R5 while it lasts since it will go away with the FF7 BR Takeover on January 30, 2024 — as will your chance to permanently add the FF7 skins to your favorite legends, so act fast!
