You were always on my mine...

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features an intriguing plot that finds Link saving Hyrule from an ancient evil yet again. However, that’s hardly the only narrative beat working in its favor. You also can find a variety of side quests and adventures, including one that finds you chasing recurring villain Master Kohga around the dark underground areas of the kingdom. Finding the various mines he frequents can prove difficult, so here is our guide telling you where to find the Abandoned Gerudo Mine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – where to find the Abandoned Gerudo Mine

As you pursue Master Kohga on a tour of the Depths, you will have to follow him to several mines. To beat Master Kohga in round 2, you must find him at the Abandoned Gerudo Mine.

To find the Abandoned Gerudo Mine, look in the southwestern portion of the Depths:

  1. Start in the overworld by entering the East Gerudo Chasm, located south from Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and not far north of Siwakama Shrine.
  2. As you reach the bottom of the chasm, paraglide slightly southeast to reach and activate Amakawis Lightroot. If you approached the chasm from the north, it is directly ahead of you.
  3. From Amakawis Lightroot, head northwest to reach Mihcihc Lightroot. There are Gerudo statues on high pedestals here. You can proceed in the direction they face to avoid getting lost on your way to the Lightroot.
  4. Continue just about due west to arrive at Gonatoyros Lightroot. It is located at the top of a high hill overlooking the Abandoned Gerudo Mine’s front entrance. You can follow the statues most of the way there.

The Depths are always a dangerous place. However, you are likely to find the Abandoned Gerudo Mine and have your second encounter with Master Kohga fairly early in the game’s campaign. Accordingly, you shouldn’t encounter a lot of tough resistance along the way.

When you first arrive in the Depths after descending through the chasm, you have the option of journeying immediately west. However, I like to activate the nearest Lightroot before heading to the Abandoned Gerudo Mine. That way, I can fast travel to resume my search in the future if I need to leave for supplies. Besides that, more light is always good.
