Where to find Bubbulfrogs in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Goin' deeper underground...

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces a variety of new collectibles you didn’t hear a thing about in Breath of the Wild. They ensure that wherever you go, there’s something to do, as long as you know where to look. Here is our guide explaining where to find Bubbulfrogs in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – where to find Bubbulfrogs

Bubbulfrogs are spectral frogs you can hunt down to produce Bubbul Gems. You can hand them over to Koltin for valuable rewards. The option becomes available very early in the game. For more information, check our guide explaining how to get the Bokoblin Mask. Koltin offers a lot more than just that first mask.

To find Bubbulfrogs, look in the various caves around Hyrule. When you first enter a cave where a frog lurks, text appears on-screen to inform you that you have made a ‘discovery.’ In these caves, you will typically find Horriblin enemies hanging from the ceiling. There may be other threats, as well. Somewhere in that cave (usually behind a weak wall you can destroy with a stone ax or similar weapon), you will find a Bubbulfrog.

Bubbulfrogs are not tough enemies. They don’t try to attack you. Instead, they attempt to stay out of range. You can shoot them from their perch with a shot from your bow, then hack them on the ground with a melee weapon. Once they are done for, the frogs will float into the air, limp. A rabbit-like creature will escape. You can collect your Bubbul Gem and the cave’s icon on your map gets a checkmark. You can only find one frog in a given cave.

If you are having trouble finding the various caves where Bubbulfrogs appear, there is help available. Check our guide on how to find the Satori, which outlines one terrific option. Satori that have received a blessing temporarily light up the locations of caves across Hyrule. That tells you where to find more frogs. Blue columns of light rise from the entrance to those caves. The lights make finding Bubbulfrogs easy for an in-game day or so.

Once you find the caves, some frogs are trickier to locate than others. We’ve written separate guides to help you locate some of the trickiest frogs residing in Crenel Hills Cave, Hebra South Summit Cave, and Pit Cave.
