Assassin’s Creed: Mirage has tons of things you can collect. Some can help you get better gear, while others help complete challenges. Overall, they’re a great way to explore Baghdad. Mysterious Shards offer the best of both worlds: you get sick gear, and you’re able to discover parts of Baghdad you wouldn’t otherwise go to. So I highly recommend collecting them. However, they are rare and you won’t unlock the location by buying maps from a Cartographer. You’ll need to find them on your own. Since they are uncommon and each region has about one or two, I’ll go over where to find all the Mysterious Shards in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage – Where to find all Mysterious Shards
Unlike most collectibles that are static, the holders of shards are NPCs, so they’re moving around. The map below will give you a general location of them. However, send up Enkidu so he can spot their exact locations. Once he does, tag them and the ping will stay on the NPC until they’re taken care of.
Tips for dealing with the NPC
The holders of the shards are members of the Order of the Ancients and will roam around Baghdad on a set route. Usually, they’ll be protected by two or three guards. To extract a shard, your best bet would be to wait till they’re in an area that’s not busy. If you can’t and have smoke bombs, use them. This allows you to stealth assassinate each of them. Be quick here, unless you have the smoke bomb upgraded, the cloud may go away in a matter of seconds.
What rewards do you earn?
Upon getting the hards, head to Northern Oasis. You’ve already been here once assuming you have done the first hour of the game. By swimming deep into the oasis, you’ll be led to a room that has three stones with an energy shield protecting certain gear. Depending on how many shards you have, you can deposit them and unlock each piece. It’s worth getting these items because they are upgradable. They are:
- The Samaama: Cost two shards and will be the first piece you unlock. The weapon does +27 damage and +27 defense. On top of that, for every fifth hit the Life Steal Perk kicks in. This effect heals you for about 10 percent and increases your damage by 50 percent.
- Shamshir-e Zomorrondnegar: This sword which costs three shards raises your damage by +76 and your defense by +78. The Blood Price perk boosts your damage by about 50 percent. Be cautious though, your health goes down by 50 percent as well.
- Milad’s Outfit: The outfit will cost five shards and comes with a pretty cool perk called Forgotten Terror. When you successfully do an aerial assassination, you create lighting around you. This causes bystanders to become disoriented within a 15-meter distance from you. It’s a great way to get in and out of the more high-profile assassinations you’ll be doing.
