Where to find Adaptive Frame in Starfield

It's a frame job.

Although Starfield devotes a lot of time to space battles and exploration, there’s a robust crafting element for players who like to take their adventures more slowly. This side of the adventure, which some players may overlook or ignore, allows explorers to produce excellent equipment. However, they need to have the right supplies. One recurring component is the Adaptive Frame, which is heavy but useful. Here is our guide telling you where to find the Adaptive Frame in Starfield.

Starfield – where to find Adaptive Frame

The Adaptive Frame is a component you will use frequently to research technologies related to Outpost Development. For a long while, I never seemed to have enough of the stuff on hand. Once you recognize its value, however, finding a lot of it isn’t difficult. You can purchase Adaptive Frame materials from vendors throughout the galaxy, or manufacture some at your Industrial Workbench.

Being a ‘common’ component, the Adaptive Frame is affordable. You just have to find a merchant who offers it. I have sometimes purchased it from merchants at the various Civilian Outposts. Closer to the game’s starting point, you can also find it sold by Cornelius Townard at Outland in the Commercial District in New Atlantis.

Unfortunately, the Adaptive Frame is heavy. A single piece weighs 1.2 kilograms. If you purchase 15 or 20 of them at a time, you can see how your shopping spree might quickly result in you becoming encumbered. If you need help in that regard, check our guide explaining how to fix encumbered.

I like to produce Adaptive Frame at the Industrial Workbench. Doing so requires one of each of two common components: Iron and Aluminum. You can buy these or mine them and they aren’t especially heavy. I suggest that you secure an ample supply of those components just before you need them.

When you are ready to manufacture Adaptive Frame, take the required materials anywhere that has an Industrial Workbench and the other stations you need for your imminent research and crafting. I have all of those tables in one room in my Dream Home. Combine your materials and then immediately put them to use on your research. That way, you don’t have to carry around a bunch of heavy supplies for long.

Starfield is available to purchase on Steam and the Microsoft Store.
