At the turn of the New Year, all eyes are once again on Call of Duty, as the series looks to propel back into the limelight, especially with Modern Warfare 3. The next major update will come in the form of Season 1 Reloaded, and we’re going to break down when players should expect it.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded: When will it be released?
Reloaded patches are rather common within Call of Duty. They’re essentially a major content patch released in the middle of the season. In past iterations, we’ve seen new maps, game modes, and even weapons released alongside the update, and it’ll be the same for the first season of Modern Warfare 3.
Before we dive into some of the expected content for Season 1 Reloaded, it’s good to know the release date, and based on the overall timing of Infinity Ward likes to structure their patches, we suspect MW3 Season 1 Reloaded will release around January 15-18.
This is based on the fact that the Season itself will conclude sometime toward the beginning/middle of February, so these dates appear to be the sweet spot for the mid-season patch.

As for the type of content we’re going to see within the Season 1 Reloaded update, players can expect the following, which was teased during the roadmap pictured above.
- New Map – Rio
- New Weapons – HRM-9 and Taq Evolvere
- New Modes – Infected, Headquarters, and Team Gunfight
The new map, Rio, looks to be a decent one at first glance, and with it being off the streets of Rio De Janeiro, we’re sure there are going to be some callouts to their culture and architecture throughout the map. Also, the addition of Infected and Headquarters is something fans of the series are overjoyed about. Infected was beloved back during the original Modern Warfare 3 days, and we’re stoked to see how it fairs in this iteration of the game.
We can also speculate we will see new skins and other shop cosmetics be added during this update, but we’ll be sure to update you with all MW3 content here for further reference.
