Armored Core 6 isn’t your regular FromSoftware title. There are no I frames, open-world exploration is gone, and you have to manage your energy levels in new and complex ways. However, it is still definitely counted as a soul-like and will have you biting your controller in frustration. Enemies get stronger, battles get harder and builds get much more complex as you search for the perfect combination. As you progress, two new modes unlock to pit you against both online players and individual bosses. Arena mode and multiplayer only unlock after certain amounts of progression, ensuring you’re truly ready for them in Armored Core 6.
Arena Mode
This mode unlocks after you complete chapter one and the Operation Wallclimber mission. The first chapter is very much just for getting you used to the controls and mechanics and should only take about 4 to 6 hours to complete.
Once you have unlocked Arena Mode in Armored Core 6, you can pit your mech against various others in a battle for domination. As you destroy the opponents, you will move up the ranks, earning more cash and fighting harder battles along the way.
Beating opponents awards you with a handful of COAM. Furthermore, it will also give you their callsign and some chips to spend on upgrading your OC. This affects the fundamentals of how your OC works in your Armored Core.
Armored Core 6 Multiplayer
Once you have beaten the Sea Spider in Armored Core 6, Multiplayer unlocks. This is just at the end of chapter 2. The battle was a tough one. It had me rebuilding my mech over and over again to find the perfect strategy.
However, once you have the Sea Spider deconstructed, you may play multiplayer against other Armored Core 6 fans. The multiplayer in Armored Core 6 is a whole different ballgame to the arena or anything else. Other players have some insane builds, and they don’t follow attack patterns the way NPCs do. Prepare to have your shiny metal ass handed to you.
