The Final Shape is almost here, but with Bungie’s inconsistent history of removing content, it’s hard to know what stays and leaves when Destiny 2 The Final Shape starts. Here’s everything we know regarding Activities, weapons, and more.
Destiny 2 The Final Shape: What content is staying and leaving?
Bungie hasn’t explicitly addressed the status of every piece of content in Destiny 2. That said, we have plenty of information and an idea about what we need to grind before the DLC launches. Let’s start with content we know is leaving:
Legendary Shards
Legendary Shards as a currency are being completely removed when the Final Shape drops. If you’ve got a stockpile of thousands like me, I recommend you spend them or turn them into Glimmer. We likely won’t get compensation for any wasted Shards, so make sure you don’t lose out.
Shiny BRAVE weapons
The BRAVE arsenal is confirmed to be in the game post-Final Shape, but there’s a catch. The Shiny versions won’t be returning, and the only way you can get them is to grind Onslaught this week.
All Seasonal Activities
The Coil, Savathun’s Spire, Deep Dives, and Defiant Battlegrounds will all be leaving when The Final Shape drops. As this season has lasted for so long, these activities feel like permanent Destiny 2 staples.
These activities all yield decent rewards, so make the most of them while you can.
Seasonal Weapons
The Vexcalibur, Wish-Keeper, and Wicked Implement are all locked behind Seasonal Exotic Quests. As we’re ditching Seasonal Content, we’ll lose these quests too. Fortunately, an Exotic Rotator in Destiny 2 already cycles through Exotic Quests weekly.
While I can’t say for sure, I bet it’s only a matter of time before these quests are added to the list.
The fate is a little less certain for the Seasonal Legendary weapons. These guns don’t have specific quests, and we have no idea if or how they will return.
Seasonal Engrams
All seasonal Engrams will be disposed of when The Final Shape launches, so it’s best to spend those now. Even if you get poor gear from them, you can convert it into Legendary Shards and then Glimmer.
HELM and The Hall of Champions
HELM is the hub for this Season’s activities, so it makes sense that it’s leaving. The Hall of Champions may disappear, too, as it’s from Into the Light.
I would be surprised if The Hall of Champions doesn’t return in some form, as it’s a great location, but we’ll be saying goodbye to it for a while starting June 4, 2024.
Pantheon
Pantheon is a mode for hardcore raiders where Guardians can tackle Raid Bosses. This mode will be leaving before The Final Shape. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it returns in the future, as it offers some of the most challenging PvE content in the game.
What is staying for The Final Shape in Destiny 2?
We’re losing a lot of content when The Final Shape drops, which will likely be replaced in the new season. That said, we do know a few things are staying or returning in the near future:
Onslaught Mode
I’m unsure how Onslaught will fit into the lore, but we know it’s returning and will likely be where you can grind for non-shiny BRAVE weapons. Onslaught is one of my favorite activities in Destiny 2, and it’s a treat to hear Shaxx so hyped. This is an intense game mode, and I’m glad we can play it again in the Expansion.
Superblack Shader
The Superblack Shader is technically staying, although it won’t be available immediately. Bungie has stated that the Shader will return after an undisclosed period.
Many new players will join us for The Final Shape, so it’s good everyone can earn the edgy color scheme. As the Shader took a while to obtain during Into the Light, I don’t expect it to be an easy unlock when it returns.
This list looks pretty skewed toward things we’re losing, but remember that most of it is Seasonal. The weapons will likely be available in some way in the future. The question is, will we care by the time we’re enjoying our spicy new Final Shape gear?
