There are tons of options to find a Pokemon you like. However, you can also attract Pokemon to you which can make things easier. Luring Pokemon is done by having incense. When you activate incense, Pokemon that wouldn’t normally appear in your environment might show up. So it could be a good way to earn all Pokemon. Normally, the incense will give out a pinking glow, but for certain day events, the color can be orange. This does change things a bit. As mentioned, incense is a good way of getting Pokemon to come to you without having to go out of your way. During events, the color may change to either green or orange. Green, gets more Pokemon to appear near you, while orange draws a specific type. In other words, you might find any of the Legendary Birds this way. 

Generally speaking, both Green and Orange Incense are important in Pokemon Go. If you can’t travel to catch Pokemon that are exclusive in other countries, this mechanic is the best way to get them. 

If you have an Orange Incense in your Item bag, it means you’re in the middle of an ongoing day event. So when you use it, you’ll lure Pokemon centered around the event. For example, if the event has something to do with Ghost Types, Pokemon that fall into that category should appear more often. On top of that, for every day events, you’ll have a chance to find different Pokemon every time. 

How to get Orange Incense

At the time of writing this, there doesn’t seem to be a specific way to find and earn these special incenses. However, it seems that any incense you have in your Item Bag will convert to either green or orange during the event. To earn incense in general, you can get them by leveling up, buying them for 40 Pokecoins, or as a reward for doing Special Tasks. Then, when you play the game during an event, you’ll automatically get Orange Incense.
