If you’re checking out the Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight Tribute Tiers, you’ll notice that you can earn a Midwinter Ward, but what is that?
The game doesn’t explain to you what your endgame prize will be, but many players online are starting to figure it out. Here’s everything you need to know about the Midwinter Ward.
Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight: Midwinter Ward, explained
Since this event just recently launched, players are still learning about all the rewards and features it has to offer. What this Midwinter Ward is in the Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event is a buff you can toggle on in Kyovashad.
Once you reach Tier 3 of the Midwinter Tribute Tiers, you’ll gain access to Midwinter Ward, which is a totem that appears in Kyovashad. It’ll buff you for six minutes, and according to this Reddit post, it should work anywhere on the map.
While writing this I wasn’t sure what the buff was until I asked if anyone knew more about it. Just after publishing this, I got an answer from a Reddit user claiming that it gives you a 20% damage buff to event mobs. These mobs would be Blightfiends and Red Cloaked Horrors.
I’m not 100% sure if this is the correct information, but I’ll update this if it is not. If you think that’s worth farming for Midwinter Tribute Tiers, check out our guide on the best ways to increase those Tiers.

Another thing to note is that the “Shard of Dawn” Aspect you can earn from this event is affected by the Midwinter Ward buff: “After 30 seconds of Night’s Grasp, gain Dawn’s Haste, increasing your Attack Speed by [25-35]% and Movement speed by 20% for 12 seconds. While empowered by the Midwinter Ward, killing an enemy reduces Night’s Grasp duration by 1 second.”
So you essentially want to get this Aspect and use it alongside the Midwinter Ward buff. It’ll be interesting to see how players find these event rewards by the time everyone gets their hands on them.
Diablo 4 is available on Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox.
