With the new Overwatch 2: Invasion update and Season 6, there are a ton of new features. One of the most intriguing features fans have been waiting for is a Hero Progression system. Your heroes can now progress in levels, unlock emblems, and earn you rewards. Let me explain more about what the Hero Progression system is in Overwatch 2.
How does the Hero Progression system work in Overwatch 2?
Each time that you play a game in Overwatch 2, any of the heroes you played as will gain EXP. This leads to Hero Levels, and also new Emblems. These are medals that pertain to specific hero achievements. For example, you can get medals for eliminations, wins, and ability-specific ones like players healed.
If you go to your Career Profile, then to your Progression, you can see an entire list of all your heroes and how their Hero Progression is. As the months go by, and you slowly level up your heroes, you’ll have a better idea at who your best heroes are. Anyone who looks at your profile will see your top heroes and their best badges displayed.
But what is it all for? Well, there are actually some rewards in store for players who complete Hero Progressions. At certain Hero levels, you’ll unlock special name cards, player titles, and player icons. Each hero has their own unique rewards. To unlock them, just continue playing Overwatch 2 like you normally do. Or play more than usual if you want to get rewards as soon as possible.
Which game modes should you play for Hero Progression? Mostly, you’ll earn hero EXP during all types of matches, like Quick Play, Arcade, and Ranked. Even playing the new PvE content will increase your Hero Progression levels! Although, keep in mind that some emblems aren’t able to progress in PvE.
Overwatch 2 is available on Battle.net and Steam.
