Modern Warfare 3 has introduced a ton of new features for players to check out, including the new tac stance, a brand new way to maneuver around the map and shoot your weapon. So, it’s good to get into the loop precisely what it is in MW3.
Modern Warfare 3: What Is Tactical Stance?
While all the standard movement and aiming mechanics have stayed the same for numerous Call of Duty’s, they often tend to add a new one to spice up the gameplay.
This is the case with Tactical Stance, commonly referred to as tac stance, as the new mechanic was added in MW3, and it’s essentially a new way for players to aim their weapon down sight and shoot quickly.
Players will notice this as soon as they slide within Modern Warfare 3, and instead of regularly aiming down the sights of their gun, players will hip fire the weapon on an angle with decent accuracy.
This can be beneficial in specific scenarios, such as sliding into a bomb site, or around a corner, where you don’t have the time or the sensitivity speed to get locked in your enemy, so tac stance can be your friend here.

While some players will adore this feature in Modern Warfare 3, some of you will not want this on, so if you’re looking to turn off tac stance altogether, you’ll want to follow the steps below.
- Head into settings
- Scroll over to the gameplay section.
- Down a bit should be an option called Tactical Sprint Activation.
- You’ll have the option to toggle it entirely off here.
There are other options here, such as allowing players to use this feature only when they sprint and slide, or specific scenarios, so test them all out to get a sense of how they want you to use the feature and what fits in your personal preference.
We could see future innovations of this mechanic in future Call of Duty, but for the time being, tac stance is unique to MW3, so be sure to try it at least out.
