LEGO Fortnite is certainly not a crossover people expected. Even with the trailer out, people are left confused about what it even is, exactly. Here’s all we know so far.
LEGO Fortnite has nothing to do with the Battle Royale
It may come as a surprise to some that Fortnite isn’t purely a Battle Royale game. The original Fortnite game was about surviving waves of enemies whilst building defenses during the day. It seems that with LEGO Fortnite, it’ll be much closer in comparison to the original Fortnite than the popular Battle Royale.
However, it is still exceedingly unique. LEGO Fortnite will allow multiplayer with up to seven friends, and it’s keen on cultivating creativity and collaboration. As is typical of both LEGO and Fortnite, building will be available, although considering the creative push, lots more should be available to build than in previous Fortnite games.
Due to leaks and rumors, it seems that LEGO Fortnite will be a procedurally generated huge open-world game. There will be familiar locations dotted around, such as the Ninjago Dojo. There will be many places to explore, many resources to harvest, and many things to build.
Considering that, in the trailer, agricultural and livestock farms can be seen, it seems that this will also be a survival game, where you’ll need food items to live, another mechanical difference.
You should not base your expectations on previous Fortnite titles, as all things considered, this is looking to be extremely different.

What will you be doing in LEGO Fortnite?
From the trailer, it seems that LEGO Fortnite will be a survival exploration sandbox game. There is a huge emphasis on player agency and exploration, with lots to discover and build. However, at the end of the trailer, we are introduced to an army of skeletons and a large monstrous creature. The is clear that there is evil afoot in the world, and it may be up to us to stop it.
We can expect that, during nighttime at least, skeletons and other typical LEGO villains will appear to give us a bad time. It is unclear if there will be a story and plot attached to this, but there is a chance that we’ll have to face the main antagonist as they hide behind an army of skeletons.
Ultimately, like other sandbox survival games, like Minecraft or ARK, your main imperative is to have fun, whether that’s by becoming the strongest or building some mightily impressive structures.
