Check for maintenance

The first thing you should do is check the Epic servers to see if they’re up and running or not. Sometimes they are down for scheduled maintenance. In this case, nobody will be able to play the game, and all Fortnite players will get Error 83. You can check the status of the servers here.

Restart your router

The good old trick of turning it off and on again works more often than you’d think. Sometimes your router and network can become a bit confused and cause connectivity issues. Simply locate your router, switch it off at the wall, and leave it for one minute. Once it has been switched off, you can turn it back on and wait for connectivity again. This will usually help with Error 83 in Fortnite.

Restart Fortnite and your PC

If there are any lumps and glitches in your PC or the game, a quick restart will usually work them out. By restarting your PC, you will initiate any updates that need to be done. These could be with your network settings, your PC hardware, and also the game itself. Fortnite needs to be up to date to run properly and avoid error codes such as 83. A quick restart will initiate the necessary updates.
