The latest Fortnite season has been a blast, and it’s more than catapulted off the success of Fortnite OG. One aspect may be new to players, and these are the Hot Spots around the map. We’re going to dive into what exactly these are.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1: What is a Hot Spot?
Fortnite has added numerous ways to make the map more interactive over the years, whether in the form of rifts, NPCs, etc. Hot Spots are another way, as players will want to seek these out as soon as the match starts.
Essentially, Hot Spots are named locations around the map indicated via a gold name bar, and players can spot these when they load into the battle bus each game. Hot Spots will have increased loot rarity throughout the region, alongside drones flying around the POI, which players can shoot down.
When these crash and break apart, you’ll likely loot some form of consumable alongside a decent weapon, so it’s worth the effort. There will be around ten or so of these flying around the map, and if you have the audio-visual indicator, you’ll easily be able to spot all of them.

Of course, with these locations being highlighted gold for everyone to see, players are bound to flock toward these locations more than others. So, you’ll need to be on your toes, as there’s a slim chance you’ll be uncontested.
Furthermore, these locations are going to stay highlighted golden throughout the entire game, so no matter if you land somewhere else, you’re still going to have the option to rotate in and clean up the mess.
Players are bound to be still fighting in these locations during the early into middle stages of a Fortnite match, as the battle over the ample amount of loot is worth third-partying.
So, we recommend heading to these locations from time to time in Fortnite, and be sure to check out our other Fortnite pieces here, for all the ins and outs of the beloved battle royale.
