While grabbing items in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you’ll no doubt come across Golden Cicada shells — or husks. These are scattered around and you’ll find them all throughout the game. The problem is, the game doesn’t tell you what you’re supposed to do with them. They might seem important, but the truth is they’re not that big of a deal. However, you’ll probably still want to turn them in as you might like what they offer in return for your efforts, even if the rewards certainly could have been better. Read on to find out what to do with the Golden Cicada shells in Wo Long.
In the hidden village, you’ll notice a tall tower with walkable vines on its side. If you can’t spot it, it’s the one in the above picture. Head towards it and then climb it to meet a hermit at the top. He’ll ask you to bring him Golden Cicada shells, so you’ll need to go and chat with him any time you want to trade them in. But what do you get for trading them in? Not much. He’ll ask you how many shells you’re offering and you can choose the number you wish to give him.

Here’s what you get with Golden Cicada shells in Wo Long
After you give him Golden Cicada shells, Wo Long rewards you with a seemingly random item. That’s it. The more shells you give him, the better rarity the item has, but much like the rest of the game’s loot, you’re likely to receive something poor or uninteresting in exchange for your collection. That very likely won’t be worth the effort to you. But at least you know what you’re meant to do with them and can probably not worry about keeping that much of an eye out for them. You already get tons of random loot anyway, so having a little less isn’t going to make any big difference.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on Steam and PC Game Pass.
