What are Airdrops and how to capture them in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Easy-peasy.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has added a few little extras to the game to go alongside the storyline update. New side missions and a whole selection of new types of missions have been added to play within the bounds of Dogtown. One of these is a simple vehicle collection mission. However, the other is designed to be all-out warfare for a single prize. A red flare marks the spot of a treasure trove of goodies, and the best man wins. Here’s how to find and capture airdrops in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

You may have spotted red smoke pouring upwards from locations around Dogtown. If you make your way towards these points, you will find all-out warfare happening. The airdrops are in the center of this mess, and once you get your hands on it, whatever is inside can be all yours.

In theory, you’re supposed to fight the enemies to be the victor and win the airdrops. However, due to the AI in Cyberpunk 2077, this really isn’t the case.

The theory is that with the improved AI of the 2.0 update, these street battles will be more of a challenge. However, it isn’t quite how it goes. I haven’t yet found an airdrop I can’t just run over to, hack into, and empty without losing even a quarter of my health.

Of course, if you want to engage and try to enjoy the experience, go ahead. But if you just want the loot, simply walk up to the box and start the hack.

Once you are in the hack minigame, you can’t be hurt. Take your time, and get the numbers puzzle right. If you fail, you can always try again until you get it right. Once you have cracked it, quickly empty the airdrop and make an escape. As soon as you are far enough from the Cyberpunk 2077 airdrop, it will end the event, and you won’t be in combat anymore.
