Today marks the official launch of Fallout 76. Although many received a head-start when the servers to the game opened early, all fans can now partake in Wasteland exploration. Since the game takes place in the reimagined state of West Virginia, it’s no wonder that current Governor Jim Justice was willing to assist in celebrating its launch. And what better way to do that than by giving Fallout 76 its own day?
Thus, the state of West Virginia has declared today, November 14, 2018, to be “Proclamation Day.”
Reclamation Day Proclamation
The official announcement and certificate were showcased on Bethesda’s official Twitter and Facebook pages. The post goes on to read, “Thank you West Virginia! Your beautiful state has been an incredible canvas for Fallout 76, and the support from your community has been truly wonderful.” If you browse through the state-issued document, you’ll see that they recognized Bethesda for recreating the sights of West Virginia, thus giving players the ability to explore “all the Mountain State has to offer.”
Thank you West Virginia! Your beautiful state has been an incredible canvas for #Fallout76, and the support from your community has been truly wonderful.
We’re proud and humbled by your Reclamation Day Proclamation.
Poppin’ Culture
This isn’t the first time that politics and pop culture have crossed paths. In recent news, a “Dragon Ball Z” composer was elected to a seat in the United States Senate for the state of Texas. As for Fallout 76, it’s one of the few times that politicians have portrayed video games in a positive light. Many times, there is direct opposition regarding the impact of games on individuals, especially since violent content is usually the focus of that scrutiny.
Fallout 76 is currently available for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. As of today, the game has officially launched worldwide. There were early indications of various hacks. However, we don’t yet know if players have uncovered any crucial exploits since launch.
