Ghostlight’s upcoming PC port of Way of the Samurai 4 has been pushed to “Q2 2015” according to changes made on the game’s Steam store page.
Originally scheduled for January 2015, the game has cycled through saying it will be due in February 2015 and then March 2015 on the storefront. It now just says “Coming soon” with a release date in the top right listing “Q2.”
The second quarter of the year is generally considered to run between 1 April and 30 June, so both Q2 2015 and “Coming soon” could be accurate. But the window is also wide enough to account for a Way of the Samurai 4 PC release in June.
Way of the Samurai 4 casts you as a master-less samurai in the mid-19th Century. The games tend to be structured as relatively short, but with multiple branching pathways and customisation options, making them rewarding to replay. Earlier titles had a clear Kurosawa influence, but the added silliness seems to have ramped up as the series has progressed.
That’s what I’ve heard, anyway. I’ve not actually played a Way of the Samurai game before. Perhaps because this is the first one to make the trip across to PC-land.
