Watch Dogs 2 to use DirectX 12, gets AMD partnership

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 has been a bit of an open secret for a while now, and there’s now further confirmation (if it were needed) that the game exists. At AMD’s recent Game Developers Conference presentation, Ubisoft apparently showed up and gave Watch Dogs 2 the DirectX 12 nod.

That’s confirmed by AMD’s Roy Taylor on twitter, who links to a summary of the event. The image in his post isn’t an official one (that logo is clearly a mock-up), but since he works for AMD it’s safe to say the other details are accurate.

Those details pretty much only extend to “Watch Dogs 2 exists and will use DirectX 12″, but the company’s appearance at AMD’s event might suggest that this sequel will move away from Nvidia (whose Gameworks suite appeared in the first Watch Dogs).

This joins a few others in AMD’s upcoming DirectX 12 marketing partnership-a-thon, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Total War: Warhammer and Ashes of the Singularity.
