Wasteland 2 - 04

Here’s what the game is looking like these days.

inXile has narrowed down the release window of Wasteland 2 to the end of August this year, according to a new post on Steam’s Early Access forum. That, of course, is where you’ll find the ongoing ‘early beta’ version of Wasteland 2, which today has had a new update as well.

Brian Fargo talks in much more detail about reaching the closing stages of development in this lengthy Kickstarter post, and thanks all the backers for making the game possible to begin with.

Without you I’d never be where I am today, just a few months removed from finally releasing the game I’ve been wanting to make for 25 years. It’s exciting to be in this home stretch, and all your support and feedback throughout the process has made the game much better than it would have been otherwise. What we’re releasing is a game of much greater scope than we ever dreamed of when starting our Kickstarter. More features, more areas, more reactivity, more words, all thanks to you for funding our game and for giving us the time needed to finish it.

Wasteland 2 is said to be “internally feature complete,” but not feature locked. The team is now busy testing balance, gameplay and whether all of the included features are as fun as they should be. That’s what they’ll be busy doing between now and August.

Meanwhile, the Wasteland 2 beta on Steam Early Access has just been updated with the final major area of Arizona. This, according to inXile, now means beta players have around half the game to play.

Here are the main fixes in the latest update/patch #42098. If you want to read every single one, have a look at this tumblr page. It’s advised that this update will, as appears to be usual, probably break previous saves:
