Warzone leak suggests rumored Ural Mountains map was for Blackout

Was a Blackout sequel in the works?

It has been over a year since Call of Duty: Warzone released. Since the beginning of the game, Verdansk has been the main map in the game, but a smaller Rebirth Island map has been introduced since then. As we get closer to Call of Duty: Warzone Season Three, player have been eager to look for leaks or rumors around a new map. Recently, leaks have pointed towards the end of Verdansk, or even a 1980’s revamp of the map instead. However, very early leaks indicated that a new map would be released known as Ural Mountains. Now, it is suggested that Ural Mountains was not intended for Warzone after all.

It appears that Ural Mountains has been in the works for a while. A prominent Call of Duty leaker, Cheezburgerboyz shared an image of the Ural Mountains map in a now deleted tweet. As you can see from the image, it features parts of the Blackout HUD rather than Warzone’s. The map ties together elements from the Black Ops Cold War Fireteam playlist such as Ruka and Sanitorium.

Will we ever get to play the Ural Mountains map?

Before Call of Duty: Warzone was even released, it was unknown if it would integrate with future Call of Duty titles. A common assumption was that Blackout 2 would be released. Now, we know that Warzone will be sticking around for a long time. This means that although Ural Mountains does appear to be a map, there is no guarantee that it will appear in Warzone. It’s not out of the question that parts of the Ural Mountains map could make it into the game in the future though.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season Three is set to launch on April 22. We do not have to wait long to see what will happen in Warzone. Until then, zombies will continue to navigate around Verdansk in the buildup to the new season.
