Warzone Shadow Siege Event patch notes nerf multiple Meta weapons

Rip the TAQ-V

Across Warzone‘s lifespan, we’ve seen the rise and fall of many weapons that have dominated the meta. Nobody likes seeing their favorite kitted-out toys fall from grace, but if other weapons get their turn in the spotlight, it keeps everything fresh. The Warzone Shadow Siege Event patch notes bring nerfs to multiple fan-favorite weapons and promise to shake up combat. Check out our article on the event to learn how to participate.

You can view the full list of changes on the official Call of Duty website, but here’s the damage report. It’s important to note that these changes only affect weapon performance in Warzone, not MW2.

Let’s start with the big one, The TAQ-V Marksman Rifle:

    • Maximum Damage decreased
    • Close-mid Damage decreased
    • Minimum Damage decreased
    • Neck Damage Multiplier decreased
    • Upper Torso Damage Multiplier decreased
    • Lower Torso Damage Multiplier decreased
    • Limb Damage Multipliers decreased

Simply put, the TAQ-V just got destroyed. Arguably, it’s needed as it’s one of the best weapons in Warzone right now. The patch notes don’t reveal numbers, so it’s hard to say how much these nerfs will hurt, but these changes have the potential to really sting.

The Signal 50 Sniper Rifle is next on the chopping block:

  • Neck Damage Multiplier decreased
  • Upper Torso Damage Multiplier decreased

If you’ve got good enough aim to land headshots, the Signal 50 is still a dangerous Sniper Rifle. If you hit too low, your target will likely survive and reposition. Sniper Rifles live or die on punchy single-shot damage, so we will have to see how much this hurts when the patch goes live.

The ISO Hemlock, another deadly Assault Rifle, got hit with ammo-specific nerfs:

300 Blackout (All Types)

  • Close-mid Damage decreased
  • Mid Damage decreased

Blackout ammo made the ISO Hemlock hit harder if you could handle the increased recoil. These changes will make the ammo less effective if your opponents bring the fight to you.

Were there any buffs?

It’s not all bad news. Weapons we rarely see, like the Fennec SMG, received damage buffs across the board. Curiously, the KV Broadside Shotgun also got damage buffs. I thought the KV Broadside was devastating already, so we will have to see how significant the changes are in practice.
