Warren Spector to receive ‘lifetime achievement’ award

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

Organisers of the 12th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) have announced that their ‘lifetime achievement’ award will this year go to Warren Spector. That seems like a bit of a spoiler, I mean, what if he wanted to be surprised on the night? Oh well.
Spector has had 30 years in the industry with involvement in multiple classic titles, not least the fantastic Deus Ex. He headed the Austin-based branch of Ion Storm responsible for developing the title.
At Looking Glass Studios he worked on System Shock and has also had a hand in several of the Ultima RPG titles. More recently he worked for Disney Interactive Studios designing Epic Mickey.
The award will be presented on 7 March at the 12th annual Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony. Previous recipients of the award include Will Wright (Sim City, The Sims), Shigeru Miyamoto (Mario, Zelda) and IncGamers favourite Peter Molyneux (Populous, Fable, trails of broken dreams).
