This could get confusing if you read the earlier story that IO Interactive was teasing a HITMAN announcement for this Thursday. Shortly before that post, Warner Bros Games also posted a 72 hour countdown to an announcement and it appears these two announcements could be linked.
Digging around in the source code of the WB Games Live page revealed there was a HITMAN 2 logo being called. That piece of code has now been removed but the logo is still present on the Warner Bros Games server.
It now appears that after parting company with Square, IO could be joining forces with Warner Bros Games to create HITMAN 2 which sounds like a completely new game and not a continuation. Of course, that could be confusing as there is already a Hitman 2: Silent Assassin but the franchise was given a hefty reboot so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
As there is no confirmation of this as yet from wither parties, we’ll have assume this is what’s happening but keep an eye on that WB Games page this Thursday at 10AM PST when all will be revealed. Whatever happens, more HITMAN is always a good thing.
