Fatshark announced that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be getting a closed beta from October 14 through October 16. The Swedish developer has been working on this next installment for some time now, and fans of both Warhammer 40,000 and Vermintide have been watching closely. This is certainly good news regarding the game’s progress, as it has already been hit by delays.
As for how much of the game will be available to play during the beta, nothing has been said. We do know that it’ll be available through Steam and the Microsoft store thanks to the press release, which reads: “Best start clearing your calendar on the 14th -16th of October! We’re opening the gates of Tertium for a Closed Beta Test on PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). So, if you haven’t already – go to our sign-up page, fill out the form and you’ll get the chance to join in on the carnage.” And yes, that link does in fact work.
More than one version
As for the imminent release itself, we know there will be two version of the game. The standard edition costs $39.99 USD and will get you the game as well as a couple of cosmetics: the Atoman Star Weapon Trinket, a cosmetic weapon trinket, and the Vanguard of the Imperium Portrait Frame, which is a cosmetic portrait frame.
There will also be a special edition, titled The Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Imperial Edition, for $59.99 USD. This come with the Loyalist Pack, which contains four unique class outfits, eight weapon skin patterns, one headgear, and an Ogryn body tattoo. Also included is the Mortis Veteran Portrait Frame, another cosmetic portrait frame, the Caducades Backpack, and 2500 Aquilas (premium currency), which might raise the heckles of those weary of micro-transactions. As expected, the special edition has the bonus items from the base version of them game as well. All-in all, it’s not a bad deal.
You can decide for yourself if Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is truly worth it once the beta begins on October 14.
