Protea has always been a powerful Warframe with an intuitive kit that’s easy to understand. Her Prime version makes her even better, so let me explain everything in our Warframe Protea Prime guide: How to get Relics to unlock and best build.
What is a Prime Warframe?
Let me quickly explain what a Prime Warframe is for new or returning players. New Warframes are added to the game in a couple of ways. Brand new Warframes often come alongside updates, like Dante in the Dante Unbound update. Prime Warframes are more powerful versions of existing Warframes and typically come with a stat boost and a visual overhaul.
The Prime version doesn’t immediately make the base Warframe obsolete, so don’t feel like it’s essential. Besides the desire to collect every Warframe, which I totally understand, I recommend seeking out a Prime Warframe if you already enjoy the regular version.
How to get Protea Prime in Warframe
You can acquire Protea Prime in two ways. You can purchase Protea Prime as part of her Prime Access Pack, which costs real-world currency. Protea Prime can also be earned for free from Relics. Besides the cost implications, the big difference between these methods is you’ll earn Protea Prime parts from Relics, which will need to be built. You get the Warframe immediately if you purchase the Access Pack.
I know FOMO is real, but most players will farm the parts with Relics.
All Protea Prime Relics and where to get them
You need four parts to assemble any Warframe, which can all be obtained from Relics. As each Relic has a pool of items it can become, you only have a chance of getting what you want each time.
You can open Relics by completing Void Fissure missions and bringing them with you. All active Void Fissure missions are selectable in the Star Map by scrolling to the Void Fissure section (pictured above).
Here’s every Relic you need for Protea and where you can farm them:
Protea Prime Blueprint
- Relic: Meso W4
- Location: Void (Ukko) Capture Mission
Neuroptics
- Relic: Neo P6
- Location: Void (Ukko) Capture Mission
Chassis
- Relic: Axi P7
- Location: Lua (Apollo) Disruption Mission
Systems
- Relic: Lith P9
- Location: Void (Hepit) Capture Mission
We don’t have exact numbers, but the drop rate for these Relics is low, and you may have to repeat each mission multiple times to get them to drop. At the time of writing, Protea Prime has just come out, and there are so many people running the missions above that you’ll find games in no time.
How to build Protea Prime in Warframe
Protea Prime can be built in a few ways, but I find building into Range and Duration is the way to go. I’ll explain my choices in a moment, but here are the mods I recommend using:
Best Mods for Protea Prime
- Corrosive Projection
- Sure Footed
- Augur Message
- Overextended
- Augur Secrets
- Augur Reach
- Streamline
- Stretch
- Intensify
- Continuity
With these mods, we’re building Protea for Range and Duration with a small bonus to Efficiency. I’ve only put the base version of each Mod on the list above. If you have the Primed Versions, feel free to use those instead, as they grant much larger stat bonuses.
Protea’s Strength isn’t too important, but I recommend using Streamline to boost Efficiency. This stat makes Protea’s abilities cost less energy to use.
Range works with our Blaze Artillery and Grenade Fan, which make up Protea’s offensive kit. Grenade Fan gives Protea a couple of different attacks. You can use Shrapnel Vortex by tapping the ability and Shield Satellites by holding it. Shrapnel Vortex is a respectable mob-clearer and is excellent at deleting enemies your Blaze Artillery misses.
Shield Satellites are a potent survivability tool and give Protea an overshield. You ideally want this shield up all the time, and our improved Duration stat helps with that.
Another reason we increase Protea’s Duration is the Dispensary ability. Dispensary deploys a device that drops powerups for you and your teammates and stays around longer with a decent Duration stat.
The weakest part of Protea’s kit is arguably her Temporal Anchor. This ability gives Protea a panic button as she can teleport out of sticky situations, but feel free to swap it out.
The most recent Warframe to be added to the game is Dante. Even though he was nerfed shortly after launch, he’s still worth using with the right Mod combination.
