Visionary Games’ Project Phoenix Rising Paragon successor state of the game

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been a few months since Visionary Games decided to undertake the creation of a spiritual successor to Epic’s now closed Paragon. Over the past couple of months, development appears to be coming along nicely and a new state of the game video shows the current progress.

In May’s update, more of the current map is shown and now the team is utilising Quixel Megascans to bring the map to life, especially when it comes to luminosity on vegetation and more detail on objects such as rocks. The video also shows how the character animation is coming along, the UI design and their goals for that which will include customisation, more of the jungle inside the map which now features the huge Prime Guardian, the minions, verticality, and more.

To help fans follow development they have also created a public roadmap which shows off some of the ongoing work.  There’s no website online yet for the game, so for now, also keep an eye on Reddit for updates

There’s still a lot of work to be done on Project Phoenix Rising but so far it’s looking very promising. With the Visionary Games team filled with passionate Paragon players, it will be interesting to see how they tackle the gameplay and how they tweak it based on their own experiences and feedback.
