Generally speaking, Valve enjoys being a bit mum on the dates for its occasional Steam Sale. For the most part, we don’t know when the next one will be — just the time frame. It’s fairly easy to guess when we’ll see the Summer Sale, Autumn Sale, and Winter Sale. To my knowledge, Valve has never released the dates for more than one sale at a time. That is, until this week. Recently, Valve lifted the veil on the dates for three upcoming Steam Sales starting with Halloween this week, followed by Autumn and then Winter.
Most of the time, we learn the dates for Steam Sales early thanks to leaks. Valve often tells its developers just when to expect game prices to start hitting new lows. The documentation revealing the three upcoming sales is, to be clear, mostly for developers as well, since it was found on the Steamworks website. That’s right, no one shared a snapshot of an email on Twitter this time. Nature is healing.
The first of the remaining Steam Sales in 2021 starts with Halloween, naturally. The Steam Halloween Sale is slated to begin this Thursday, promising “content updates and in-game events in celebration of the theme.” There’s some information for developers on the event already. And Valve has provided the first splash image, which is especially creepy and reminds me of a Tool song. The Steam Halloween Sale runs from October 28 to November 1.
Remaining dates for the 2021 Steam Sales
Finally, we have the Autumn and Winter sales. Neither of these have any extra information or art, as they’re still a ways down the road. However, the Steam Autumn Sale will run from November 24 to November 30. The Steam Winter Sale begins on December 22, and ends on January 5, 2022. So, if you’re planning on buying a game for someone you care about this holiday season, you should wait until then.
