Valve continue Half-Life 2: Episode 3 silence

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

Gabe Newell teases with a haiku.
In one of the more absurb methods of refusing to give a release date, Valve boss Gabe Newell has been communicating in haikus.
Well known for responding directly to emails from fans, Newell has supposedly replied to a haiku asking him when Half-Life 2: Episode 3 will be released with a flowery message of his own.
Reddit user “trojanguy” sent the following email to Newell:
Do you like haikus?
I like to write them sometimes…
Episode 3 soon?
Newell’s response:
Haikus are neato
They have a rigid structure
Episode 3 ships in
The fact that a haiku is usually structured in syllable strings of 5 – 7 – 5 has lead some fans to read into Newell’s final line (of six syllables) to the tune of “episode three ships in six months”.
Given Newell’s second line reference to a haiku’s rigid structure, such a line of thught may not be all that wide of the mark…
