According to reports in Variety, Universal Studios will be producing a video game adaptation of its recent movie release Wanted, with more titles to come.
Universal has no limit on IP’s, with possible games for all its hit movies, but will “selectively finance it’s own games whilst still licensing out the majority of its titles.”
The idea, according to Universal digital platforms boss Bill Kispert, is help the studio expand and commit more time to producing “movie-based software by skipping negotiations with outside publishers”.
Universal Interactive, Universal’s previous games division, was famously assimilated into Vivendi Games eight years ago. Universal will be looking to maintain and keep this branch.
Wanted will be available on PC, PS3 and 360 either later this year or early in 2009.
