UK retailers have a terrible July

Worst month of the year so far for boxed game sales.
Data release by GfK Chart-Track reveals a steep drop in total sales revenue for UK retailers of boxed videogames. Retailers racked up only £44.76 million for the month of July, down 26 per cent in comparison to the same period last year.
July saw total game sales 2,327,966, units, a 20 per cent year-on-year drop.
After a string of triple-A releases earlier in the year, this summer has been largely devoid of big releases. Evidence of this can be seen in the weekly sales charts of the past couple of months which have included very few new releases.
Retailers will be hoping for more action over the next few months leading up to the Christmas period.
