UK has biggest ever week for videogame revenue

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

According to data from GfK Chart Track, last week was the biggest ever for videogame revenue in the UK. Total sales came in at £120.8 million, higher than the same week last year which saw £113.8 million in sales thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops, Dance Central and Kinect Sports.
The big sellers last week were (surprise, surprise) Modern Warfare 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Modern Warfare 3 alone brought in £83.1 million, a figure that (according to Chart Track) is higher than the opening weekend box office of the last four Harry Potter films combined.
Skyrim is Bethesda’s best ever selling week one game, securing double the sales figures of Fallout: New Vegas.
