Yes, the news you’ve all been waiting for, Train2Game has finally been accredited as part of a legitimate course at universities. The open learning provider has today revealed that its courses have been benchmarked against the Qualifications Credit Framework, and that a panel of education experts have agreed that the course is the equivalent of the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree. The games design course will launch immediately, while an additional Games Artist course will launch in April.Heading the University of Bedfordshire’s Department of Computer Science and Technology is Professor Carsten Maple, who said that the “extensive evaluation of the Train2Game course content demonstrates its significant value in providing the skills and knowledge necessary to progress in the gaming industry. We’re looking forward to welcoming applications from Train2Game graduates and we’re sure that other universities will follow suit.”Hopefully these courses are the first in many steps which will show that gaming isn’t just a pastime anymore.
