Reakktor Studios unleash a beta build of their 90s inspired arena FPS TOXIKK for playing and testing purposes.
TOXIKK is definitely one game to keep an eye on if you loved the fast paced shooters of the 90s and early 2000s. It was revealed last August as a sci-fi themed shooter which promises no-frills action.
Reakktor has tried to create that classic shooter feel with no levelling, no regenerating health, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight aiming. In other words, if you’re a bit slow with the old trigger reactions then there will probably be a lot of death and respawning fun to be had.
TOXIKK comes with two map sizes, classic for 8 players and massive for 16 players. The massive maps also include vehicles such as gliders, attack-bombers, and hoverbikes. Hooray! Vehicles!
Like the good old shooter days, a free SDK will also be released so the community can make maps and skins for the game. A huge plus if TOXIKK sounds like it will tick all your FPS boxes.
It’s always hard to improve your skills online so thankfully Reakktor has now added a bot mode for training purposes in this release. This brings back memories of running around against Quake bots. It’s a shame they never helped improve my Quake skills against real players.
The game is now on Steam Early Access for £12.59 and there’s a also a four pack available for £35.99.
