The list of big games coming out in February 2022 grows ever longer. Today, Sega and developer Creative Assembly have announced that Total War: Warhammer III will release for PC on February 17, 2022 — and as a day one launch for Game Pass. On top of this announcement, the companies also revealed the Ogre Kingdoms Race Pack along with a trailer.
As you’ve likely gleaned, the release date announcement is a twofer. Not only will Total War: Warhammer III release next year on Steam and The Epic Games Store, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers get it day one. It’s awesome news for fans of strategy games, who have already been getting their fill with Age of Empires IV as of late.
“By far our biggest Total War ever, Total War: Warhammer III will feature more factions, a larger map, more mechanics, a deeper storyline, major systems reworks, and brand-new battle types to sink your teeth into,” writes Ben Barrett, senior website editor at Creative Assembly. “Invade the Chaos Realms and fight titanic survival battles against the infinite hordes of the Chaos Gods to retrieve vital artifacts for your war effort. Embrace or fight against Chaos with a diverse set of campaigns, each providing a unique sandbox of possible outcomes.”
Total War: Warhammer III introduces the Ogre Kingdoms
Beyond the release date, we get to meet the Legendary Lords of the Ogre Kingdoms today. The “grand campaign” brings in Greasus Goldtooth and Skrag the Slaughterer. And with names like that, you know they’re nice folks. As described, the Ogre Kindom utilizes long-range firepower to soften up its foes before overwhelming them with a “monstrous cavalry.” The Ogre Kingdoms Race Pack will come free for those who pre-order Total War: Warhammer III or purchase it within a week of its release.
Total War: Warhammer IIIÂ lands on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox Game Pass on February 17, 2022.
