Ymwrath the Eternal’s army is comprised of 3x Skink Cohorts, 3x Skink Skirmishers, 2x Salamander Hunting Packs, 1x Ripperdactyl Raiders, 1x Feral Carnosaur, 1x Feral Stegadon, 1x Feral Bastiladon, 1x Ancient Salamander, 1x Kroxigors, 1x Terradon Riders, 1x Terradon Riders (Fireleech Bolas). Plus, a Dread Saurian appears as a reinforcement, because why not?
The Ymwrath dragon encounter is probably one of the more annoying ones around. You might want to skip if this is the first one that you get, or you could just keep reloading the previous turn’s save until you get a different dragon.
You’re fighting a somewhat decent-tier Lizardmen army with early-game High Elf troops, and that’s going to hurt. You could still use the terrain to your advantage by locking down the valley and deploying in a defensive formation, just remember that all those dinosaurs can rip apart your low-level troops:
Imrik and your other dragons, meanwhile, need to distract Ymwrath while your archers pepper it from afar:
The goal is to tie down the unique dragon long enough, preventing it from landing and tearing through your ranged units:
If you deal enough damage to the Lizardmen units, and, assuming Ymwrath is downed, they’ll start berserking and will, eventually, run away:
The biggest nuisance, though, is the Dread Saurian which will probably Jurassic Park its way through your line infantry unless you can burst it down quickly enough:
Total War: Warhammer II – The Warden & The Paunch is available on Steam. Since Prince Imrik is an FLC lord, you’ll need to download him separately. For more information about the latest add-on, check out our guides and features hub.
