Total War: Warhammer II – Eltharion the Grim’s unique items
Helm of Yvresse
Step 1: Reach level 7.
Step 2: Own the entirety of two provinces – Fairly easy to do since you’ll complete this step while taking out the Arachnos in Southern Yvresse. Just beware of Aranessa Saltspite and the Pirates of Sartosa. You’re at war with the faction at the start of your campaign and they may sneak past you and capture a settlement.
Additional rewards:
- +20 influence
- +1,000 gold
Fangsword of Eltharion
Step 1: Reach level 10
Step 2: Win 3 battles vs. Greenskin factions – This one won’t take a while if you’re able to head to the Southlands to eliminate Grom the Paunch and capture Karag Orrud (one of the preventive missions in Eltharion the Grim’s Total War: Warhammer II campaign). If for some reason Grom’s faction was already defeated by someone else, then you’ll need to wait for the Top Knotz Savage Orcs tribe to arrive in the Southlands. You can refer to our campaign progression guide for more info.
Additional rewards:
- +20 influence
- +1,000 gold
Talisman of Hoeth
Step 1: Complete the Invocation of Ladrielle (reach Yvresse Defense level 1): +1,000 gold; +10 influence; Loremaster’s Cloak item. You can refer to our Yvresse Defenses and Athel Tamarha upgrades guide for more info.
Step 2: Recruit a War Lions of Chrace unit (starting unit for Eltharion the Grim) – +2,000 gold; +20 influence
Step 3: Win the Talisman of Hoeth quest battle – +5,000 gold; +1,500 XP for Eltharion the Grim; +20 influence
Quest battle: It’s warding time!
Eltharion the Grim is up against Ludred of the Warriors of Chaos. Since the previous requirements were easy enough to complete, you can do this quest battle early in your Total War: Warhammer II campaign. Just be sure that you’re well prepared:
This is a chokepoint battle where you easily have the advantage when it comes to the terrain. That’s because the Warriors of Chaos need to cross a river to get to you. If you’ve recruited several ranged units and spearmen, you’ve practically won.
If you have the right spells, go ahead and nuke Ludred while he’s on his flying mount. That’ll probably shock him a bit:
The idea is to fix enemies in place with your line of spearmen. While enemy mobs are engaged, fly over them with your Arcane Phoenix and cast Emberstorm. You gotta love the fireworks:
While your units are engaged at the river crossing, several hostiles will emerge from the forest behind you. These include Chaos Warhounds and Fimir Warriors:
You should try to disengage some of your units in order to cover your flanks. Otherwise, you’ll get overwhelmed on two sides and cut down piecemeal. However, even if you manage to blunt the offensive, another threat looms from the distance — a Lord of Change along with several Forsaken, Chaos Spawn, and even a lone Hellcannon that’ll blast your stationary troops.
Try to hold on just a little bit longer because help will arrive, and, by help, I mean Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos. That’s right, several Phoenixes, as well as generic High Elf lords and heroes, will come to the rescue:
From this point onwards, all you need to do is mop up and clean house. Watch as Chaos units start routing as you eliminate their leaders:
Just for good measure, don’t forget to chase them down with your flaming chickens:
