When Total War Saga: Troy launched back in mid-August, Sega went down a pretty unconventional route for a AAA game. The publisher decided to release Troy for free, to keep indefinitely, if redeemed within an initial 24-hour launch period. This led to an impressive 7.5 million copies being grabbed on day one. That’s quite a lot of free content given away at launch. Now, Total War Saga: Troy is releasing on Mac, and those of you who picked up the free Windows version, can get even more for no extra cost.
The Mac version of Total War Saga: Troy launches October 8, again, exclusive to the Epic Games Store. It’ll set you back $50 if you’re a newcomer. However, those who redeemed the free version back in August also get a copy on Mac. That’s not a bad deal is it, two versions of Total War at launch, at no cost to the consumer. We’ve no idea what kind of deal Epic struck with Sega, but it’s definitely benefitted us.
The freebies don’t stop there either. In September, the Amazons DLC released for Total War Saga: Troy. That too had a free-to-grab period which ends the same day as the Mac release, October 8. If you’re a Mac player who hasn’t picked up Amazons on Windows, you can grab the Mac version for free, if you’re quick. Register for Total War Access and link your Epic Games Store account before October 8 to guarantee your free DLC.
